Carlos Condit wants to replace Jon Fitch at UFC 132

nullFrom MMAMania.com

Jon Fitch recently had to pull out of his scheduled UFC 132 rematch with B.J. Penn due to an undisclosed injury and now the UFC must find a replacement.

But, who can step in for one of the top welterweights in all of MMA?

Carlos Condit believes he can.

“The Natural Born Killer” posted the following on his twitter account earlier today:

It would be an honor to fight a legend like BJ Penn, one of my favorite fighters ever. If the call comes, I would take the fight in a second.

Condit, the last WEC welterweight champion, has a 26-5 record and he is 3-1 in the UFC with his lone loss being a split decision to Martin Kampmann.

Condit recently handed Dan Hardy his first KO loss at UFC 120 and was set to face Chris Lytle at UFC 127, but had to pull out due to an injury.

With UFC 132 taking place in July, Condit feels he would be healthy enough to compete and I think this matchup would be more intriguing than Fitch-Penn II anyway.

Condit is a scrapper who isn’t scared to take the fight anywhere. And, Penn would probably prefer to face a guy like Condit who will be willing to trade strikes with him instead of just shoot for takedowns and clinch like Fitch.

With his recent string of wins, Condit is ready for the next level and that next level of competition is Penn.

So if Condit is making a motion to fight Penn in July, I would like to second that motion and hope that the UFC agrees.
